Our Member Spotlight this month shines on Kristie Van Den Heuvel, CLTP, president of Liberty Title Services
Kristie was born and raised in Cecil County and graduated from North East High School in 1994. She has spent most of her adult life working in the real estate and title industry. She became interested in her current career as part of a true local family legacy.
“My dad was also born and raised here and started Liberty Title Services in 2011,” she says. “He and I and my sister each played different roles in the business. I initially focused on the company’s finances while helping it grow. In 2021, my sister pursued her own path, and I took over managing the day-to-day operations. My dad retired last year, and today I’m proud to continue leading the family business while building on the foundation he created.”
Liberty Title Services specializes in real estate settlements, title insurance, and escrow services, working closely with buyers, sellers, lenders, and real estate professionals to help ensure smooth and successful closings. When asked her biggest challenge as a business owner, Kristie echoes the challenges of many small businesses.
“We face an ongoing challenge in retaining both great employees and loyal clients. Fortunately, I’ve been blessed to have two employees who have been with me for 10 years, and they truly feel like family. I’m also incredibly grateful for the amazing real estate agents, lenders, buyers, and sellers who continue to trust Liberty Title Services to handle their settlements. Their confidence in our team is something I never take for granted and is a big part of what keeps our business thriving.” Along with the challenges, Kristie finds great joy in running the business.
“The most rewarding part of my job is being able to share in the excitement of homeownership. Helping clients reach such an important milestone in their lives and making the closing process a positive experience is incredibly fulfilling.”
Kristie, a board member of the North East Chamber of Commerce, truly loves the small-town charm of her hometown and the sense of community that makes it so special, and understands the importance of being a Chamber member.
“North East is filled with locally owned businesses and blessed with truly wonderful people who make this an amazing place to live and work. The Chamber provides invaluable opportunities to build relationships, network with other local businesses, and stay connected with the community. The connections you make often turn into lasting partnerships and friendships.”
Liberty Title Services is located at 111 S. Main St. in North East. Their motto, “Good Deeds Are Our Business” says it all about their life-long legacy in the town of North East and beyond.
