The Town of North East, under the leadership of Mayor Benson, and in an effort to continue investing in our downtown business community through the promotion of tourism, has developed a tourism map for visitors, residents, and community members. The map is intended to serve as both a marketing tool and community guide, highlighting local destinations, businesses, and attractions.
This initiative has been thoughtfully planned with input from community members and stakeholders to create an attractive and informative product that showcases North East as a premier visitor destination.

Application Information
The North East Tourism Map is a curated visitor guide designed to position the Town of North East and the surrounding corridor as a premier Chesapeake Bay destination. The map connects visitors to waterfront access, downtown experiences, and tourism-oriented businesses through clear navigation and intentional selection.
Applications are evaluated using the criteria outlined below. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee inclusion. Final placement decisions are made at the Town’s discretion and may be influenced by available space, map layout, category balance, cartographic limitations, tourism objectives, editorial considerations, and overall visitor usability.
Inclusion on the tourism map does not constitute endorsement by the Town of North East.
Applicants must be open and consistently operating at the time of application and throughout the map distribution period. Businesses must meet all required eligibility criteria to be considered for inclusion.
Explicit Exclusions
- Appointment-only businesses
- Home-based businesses
- Mobile-only businesses without a fixed location
- Liquor and tobacco stores
- Non-tourism service providers (unless placed by the Town)
Town-Directed Inclusions
The Town may include select businesses, services, or locations that support visitor navigation, safety, or infrastructure. These may include public parking areas, restrooms, visitor services, and other infrastructure supporting tourism. These inclusions are not subject to the application process and are placed at the Town’s discretion.
